    ATLAS.ti 5.0

From our current development schedule I can quite safely forcast that we
will not be able to meet our release estimate from last autumn (June 26,
2000, 10am) which was kindly quoted in a recent mail!-)

    The reasons are mainly:
    * extending the primary targets for the new release (the last minute
add-ons are often the most interesting ...)
    * the decision for some major reorganization of the data architecture
    * some of the new technologies we are incorporating (Internet access,
component technology, XML) need more elaborate in-house testing

Although everything looks quite colorful (!) already we have not yet
started external beta-testing which we would like to do intensively over a
three month period at least starting in June.

As you can understand we do not feel very comfortable with having to
postpone release again (Canossa must be a nice place to go ...). The only
reason we still feel not too depressed is that we know that you already
have a very good tool at your disposal which should get you through the
    time between.

    Thomas:

thanks for this. It actually made the difference in my decision to not update my hardware yet. Any estimations as to when 5.0 will be out, September, December?

    thanks, DS.

Let me know when it is getting Real Soon Now; I will see if I can sell a
    review somewhere.
