    Lightbulb Codes Colors

    1. Code colors should can be named and managed as categories in their own column within the manager.
    2. As categories the colors should also can be considered in the Query tool and other search/filter methods.

    Thanks, Michael

Colors are very helpful, but I really miss the possibility to organize codes by colors
and to name them. When this is not possible, then we cannot really use the real
    potential of such structures.

Please consider this as soon as possible, it would be a real help for the daily work!

    Thanks, Michael

    Code Color Families

I don't know if it is complicated to introduce:

    1. A user defined code color palette
    2. A new column in the code manager to can sort them by color.
    3. The possibility to name the colors to make clear the concept behind.

If this is problematical, then what about the following idea?

    1. You would introduce a new feature for families: they would can be colored.
    2. The family color would automatically be assigned to an every member code.
    3. A code would only can be member of one colored family.

And here is what we get:

    1. We would have colors as usual.
    2. We would can have names for colors (the family name)
    3. We would can sort codes by color (sorting them by family)
    4. We would can use color concepts even in our queries.

So you wouldn't need to introduce further columns, if this is a problem and
would also not need to think about how to name colors, or how to manage
and integrate such colors within Atlas.ti's concepts.

    Thanks, Michael

PS. The way is similar to what I'm currently doing. I'm using special families
which represent a color concept. The difference to the made suggestion is that
I currently need to do twice and many times: to assign/unassign codes to the
color family and especially to select colors for an every code I later add.
And this again and again, when concepts change. The suggestion saves time.

Colors as Attributes of Code Types

But the probably better solution would be to introduce code types as already suggested,
and to offer the colors as one of their possible attributes.

    Thanks, Michael
