How to compare different groups

Hi, all,

I just start using Atlas ti to do textual analysis. I have 410 narratives. I want to compare different gender groups and different age groups to see if they have significant difference in contents. I tried to put them into document families. But I don't know how to get the output of different groups.

Dear Mindy,

Once PDs are grouped in PD families according to your study's variables (e.g., gender, age groups), you can explore the data comparatively using different tools. These include the following:
a. Filters
b. Query Tool
c. Co-occurrence explorer
d. Code-PD Table
e. Word Cruncher

These tools will allow you to examine similarities and differences across cases both qualitatively and quantitatively. For an in-depth explanation of the different tools you can use to analyze data in ATLAS.ti, please read the chapter on analysis in the ATLAS.ti full manual, starting on page 262 ("Data Analysis and Theory Building").
